Skrine
Hello guys. this is gonna be a long post with words and lotsa photos. My 3 weeks internship has finally come to an end. It was a fruitful 3 weeks time at Skrine, with the lovely attachees. Im glad that i've made the right choice of applying internship at Skrine. On the first day, i was so surprised that wan yi was there too. i was like ' omg, I'm not alone, i have someone to teman me in this 3 weeks time.' i was kinda excited and looking forward to this internship the week before, and was nervous too the day before. was thinking if the bosses are gonna be nice, are they gonna be busy and have no time for us, was it gonna be like the previous internship, to do photo stating and filing job. all like worries just came into my mind the day before. lol
Was assigned to one of the partners, but so unfortunately she was so busy, and was away for the first week. so basically i didn't really get to see her, or talk to her throughout the internship at Skrine. then she assigned me to her associates, Jason and Nicholas. Nic was a nice guy, and wasn't as bossy as others. (I dont know if others are bossy tho') haha. He is only 24 this year, so young, thats why he wasn't being harsh on me. haha. basically, my job was to assist the associates in researching on certain topics for the court case. It's not an easy job. Nic told me sometimes when the associates ask for help in doing research, is because they can't find the answer themselves, thats why they need help from us. so ya, on the first day i got a research on Contract law. It was really a specific topic, where i really can't find the answer for him. i felt bad tho.
On the third day, we went for a day trip to KL high court, KL Legal Aid Centre, and Land Office. It was my first time there. first time being in the court and listen to hearing/trial. But actually attending court session was kinda boring, because u can't really hear what the lawyers/judges are talking about, because their voice are too soft to be heard. :/ plus, they speak in malays in lower courts. even in the higher court, they sometimes speak in malays too. so, can't really hear what they're saying. anyway, had lunch with Ms.Kuek, one of the partners who dealt with us, the attachees. it was a simple lunch, where we got to talk to the partner, and to ask questions. haha.
On the first Friday, we had a so-called farewell lunch for the 16 yr old kids. haha. we ordered mcd and ate at the lounge. we all were like kids, back to the 16s. haha. but it was definitely a good day with them. :)
with the two 16 yr old kids, Shu wei and Khashif.
then few days later, i got another research on defamation case. (Interim injunction) although i've learned tort law in law school, but its different. because now, I'm doing malaysia law. so, i gotta read malaysia law textbook, india law textbook, malaysia cases. and all. then i had the chance of going to the high court with the bosses. but it was really a bad experience. :( i was asked to go to the court on my own, and i got lost and went to the wrong place. by the time i reached, they have finished the court session. :/ but the judge has granted us the interim injunction, which usually will not be granted. i felt happy, because my hard work got paid off. haha.
Wednesday to court, bad day :/

Red Velvet while doing work :)
On the last week, we went all the way to bangsar for banana leaf rice because Geoff is leaving Msia soon. so we thought of bringing him to try out the local food. yummers :)
Taken on a random morning. so beautiful :)
raining plus jam. so tiring.
On the last day, Jason treated me to lunch at SS20 Fish Noodles and Nic treated me Scones @ the bread shop. it was a great chit-chat session over the lunch with the associates. we talked all sort of things and they shared with us some of their experiences as an associate. haha
the scones are so yummy, i would definitely go back again for their pastry, but it's too far from where i stay.

It was a different experience at Skrine this time. although doing research is not an easy job, because the topic we were required to research on was too specific, but it actually helped us in a sense where we got to learn something out of law school. Law school was all about learning from the textbook, then apply the principle to the facts given. but in real life, the situations aren't the same as the facts given in the exam, it is a real case. and it's much more difficult than the exam lol. i get to do some research on the area of law which are the taught in law school, for example banking law and construction law. too bad i didn't have the chance to do research on IP, it sounds interesting. i'll definitely request for it if i get to do internship at other firms. :) these 3 weeks definitely worth it, despite waking up early, sacrificing my sleep, got stuck in the jam while going home after work, and the stupid expensive parking. haha. Hopefully i will get to do chambering at Skrine in the future. only in my dream haha. :p
That's all for my internship at Skrine. :)
pooiling.
